Rural Buildings Maintenance and Renovation Scheme (RBMRS) was introduced with an objective of routine maintenance of rural Local Bodies assets. Continuous and proper maintenance of the buildings should be done so as to have the full utilisation of the assets created. The assets of the rural Local Bodies such as Anganwadi Centers, Panchayat office buildings, Overhead tanks, Integrated Sanitary Complexes for Women, etc., have been taken up for renovation under the Scheme.
During the year 2011- 12, renovation of 12,796 Integrated Sanitary Complexes for Women was carried out exclusively under the Scheme with an allocation of Rs.170 crore and all the complexes were brought back to usable condition. Similarly, during the year 2012-13, repairs and renovation of Over Head Tanks, Ground Level Reservoirs and main pipelines were taken up with the allocation of Rs. 175.22 crore under the Scheme.
